Riverside Vocational Technical School works in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Correction to provide vocational educational opportunities to incarcerated persons.

A Message from the Director, Joe Kelnhofer I am delighted to welcome you to the Riverside Vocational Technical School Website. Because Riverside is an educationally oriented state agency, the faculty and staff genuinely care about the training, the future, and the life after incarceration of our students. The training areas we provide are designed to provide the student with the skills needed to succeed in his/her chosen field. The vocational and technical courses offered have been selected through research of labor market trends, industry and business partnerships and statistical data. The training provided is not only beneficial to the individual, but also to the Arkansas Department of Correction and the citizens of the State of Arkansas.

Riverside offers many opportunities for the occupational growth and development of the incarcerated individual. By using their energies, abilities, and hard work, they will be able to make their time at Riverside and the Arkansas Department of Correction productive and meaningful. It is important that they learn that by continuing to rely on these same energies, abilities, and even more hard work they can accomplish their goals. Each Riverside student has a golden opportunity to take what may be the most negative part of his/her life thus far and shape it into a life-changing journey.
